Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Carolyn Morvant Rhodes, 59, who passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010 in Newton, Texas. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will conduct the services. Her daughters, Allison R. McAuliffe and Monica Rhodes will serve as readers and her grandson, Bryce McAuliffe and Caroline Mouton will be gift bearers. Carolyn was a member of St. Michael Church and the choir in Jasper, Texas. She was also a member of St. Bernard Catholic Daughters of America and the Adult Choir. Carolyn was a member of DARE & SADD at Breaux Bridge High. One of Carolyn's many hobbies included; singing, which brought her a sense of peace and was a God given talent she shared with many throughout her life. Other hobbies were gardening, jewelry making and reading. Carolyn will always be remembered for her ability to teach, which she dedicated 38 years to, and was recognized by her piers for that excellent quality. Her children and grandson gave her the joy she needed that made her life complete. Having both her daughters complete college was one of many wishes for her children. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and those she loved and those who loved her. Survivors include her daughters, Allison Rhodes McAuliffe of Dallas, Texas and Monica Rhodes of Nacogdoches, Texas; her brothers, Dane Morvant of Lafayette and Paul Joseph Morvant and his wife, Mary Ann of Breaux Bridge; and her grandson, Bryce McAuliffe of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claymar Joseph and Genevieve Hebert Morvant; her son, William Matthew "Matt" Rhodes, Jr.; and her sister, Mattie Morvant Watson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Joey Morvant, Clay Thibodeaux, Dane Thibodeaux, Dane Morvant, Don Hebert and Rocky Hengarling. Honorary pallbearer will be Pojo Morvant. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
