Does anyone know if the South Side residents still have Forestery road access.

Yes they do. Have yet to go without. They are just blocking the road that heads towards Watch/Green Lake.

Actually, you might want to check into this. My understanding is there is a complete ban on all crown land access in the Cariboo This includes all forestry roads UNLESS it is your permanent residence. Again, I'm not an expert so you might want to check with the Cariboo Regional District.

Correction... should read "principle residence"

This is what I was looking at. If you look at the prohibition description on the right hand side... http://bcfireinfo.for.gov.bc.ca/ftp/!Project/WildfireNews/8112017~21019_17%20Cariboo%20MAP%20S11%20Prohibition%2020170811%201330%20Info.pdf

My neighbours and I have been going back and forth the past few weeks. I did bring my tax form to prove I owned a property, but never had to produce it.

They might check ID and record your name so they know who and where you are.

They are very friendly military and RCMP. Usually 4-6 guys there at a time. We've taken them burgers, chinese food etc. They've come down to the lake for a swim.

They are at the Sherian West and Sheridan/Rayfield FSRs junction to prevent people traveling south towards the evacuated area, and hopefully to discourage any people with devious intentions from roaming around the South Side.

Just drove in this evening no problems. 5 friendly rcmp and military looking very bored at the Y. A week ago they wanted a destination address but this time just gave stickers to the kids.

I wonder if they will be staying there even though North Green lake is allowed back now.

They revised the area restriction shortly after the initial release to allow access to private property.

Good to hear everyone and thanks for the info. Raegan, I didn't realize they revised the release but that makes way more sense for all residents. Now let's keep our fingers crossed this will all end soon.
