Regardin Mandatory Heluts for ATV riders, I contacted 100 mile Forestry as well as 100 mile RCMP who referred to the Motor Vehicle (all terrain) act CHAPTER 319.
Helmuts are only mandatory in forestry rec. sites.
Do not take my word for it but rather check for yourself, and of course it is common sense to ride with a helmut.

Thanks, but aren't helmuts only mandatory on the Forest Service Roads? I might have to give forestry a call to clear up my doubts.

Yes Chris...Helmets are mandatory and if you do a lot of deep bush riding, as we do, you will appreciate the protection from branches etc. Ronnie, no bow legged you know what, but I have found a solution for the early morning wakeup calls from the woodpeckers....a .22 with birdshot. Just kidding but they are starting to *&%@#@%&** me off at 6am.
Raining here right now but they were calling for flurries over 1200 meters, which means us. Kiwi you better buy that four stroke soon! We are heading out tomorrow morning on a good quad ride, possibly Crystal or even English Lake(will have to trailer) from Sheridan.

$150 a pop , Chris and yes I do agree with the over Government thing...to an extent .... but a few have spoiled it by over doing "it" and there is no going back now.

Helmuts are not mandatory, except maybe for 3 wheelers. For the real facts, best to check with forestry. Personally I want less government intervention, not more or before you know it they'll have their hands so deep into your pockets you'll never be able to sit down.

Hey guys..keep up the fun and games on here!! I like reading it as well as the informative stuff. Im guilty of wearing shorts while quadding in August...was too darn hot for anything else. But we also wore our helmets for sure. Never saw anyone checking insurance or anything this summer...we were up for over 3 weeks but maybe they missed us as we stick to the trails between Watch Sheridan and Bridge pretty much. Ill have to make sure my insurance is up to date if they are checking tho.

Cory, no the same things do not apply to Snowmobiles except that is illegal to operate a Snowmobile on a Public Road.
Off Road Public Liability Insurance is an "option" for Snowmobilers to purchase if they want.
Expect all this to change in the not to distant future when the revamped ATV Act is released and that will make sweeping changes to the operation of Quads/Snowmobiles. Expect this Act to include "mandatory Licensing and Registration of all Off Road Machines"
Bit milder here today Bill at plus 2 so maybe we will get some beans off the plants. Yep still have one hummer that I saw yesterday but they will be gone real soon.
Fall is arriving.

Thanks Kiwi and Bill for the info, that seems pretty simple, and I guess the same goes for snowmobiles.

Yes, they have been checking for insurance. Some friends on Windy Mountain Forestry Road were stopped last week. Don't forget that you have to wear helmets. I watched all the weekend warriors roaring up and down our road wearing nothing but shorts! Kiwi we are waiting for a call to take the instructors safety course for ATV's. Also...the Hummingbirds are still here. Saw one this morning at the feeder competing with the Woodpeckers who just love sugar water. Temp. here this morning was -4c. Hope this is not a silly conversation for some person down there somewhere.
