Thawing out a frozen pipe in the cariboo to restore running water in the cabin...
$$$ to Hydro for the portable heater.
$$$ to replace the chain while cutting through the ice and striking a rock, or two.
2 days of labor in the cold wind.
20 minute hot shower when your done... PRICELESS!

Ah ha Man wins again. Way to go Rob. I used to cover the trouble spot or Ice with 8 inches of foam and that stops the frost going super deep. Then heap the snow on top of the foam for a blanket and all will be as snug as a bug. Yes with little snow this year (so far) to insulate the ground stuff happens as the frost goes deeper.
Cheers
Kiwi Just remember we are all watching !!

Water line froze after being here a day... Cut a hole in the lake (like you used to do... 7") to get coffee water! After 24hrs of heat and running lake water from a pump over the area it thawed. Of course every shrimp in the lake is under that blue tarp in the warm water now! Lake was lower then I thought obviously, so I'll insulate her today with sawdust. As bad as it was with no water... still beat a good day at work! Just another day in the Cariboo!

Fond memories indeed Rob. I still have today, the picture of Ralph (Mrs Claus)and myself (Sanata)in a small frame. They were good and happy days indeed.

Meant to say "expecting snow" but my thumb got in the way of the rest of my fingers.
We did get a little snow but sadly lacking at this time. Hoping for a decent fall of snow on Monday the 26th.

About a week earlier than normal Garry. Excting snow for the next three days and we have way less on the ground than normal this year.

Check out 'South Cariboo Quad Squad' --> 'Photos' --> 'Gigi Plowing up a Storm' to see last year on Dec 5th. But I think a Chinook blew in and took it all away soon after... Come on Winter! :)
