We had a Grizzly 15ft from our cabin May 12 2009 in the middle of the day. Nobody has seen one around Murphy Lake for 30 years. Kinda makes you sit up and take notice.

Had an interesting last Friday.Atving on Wavey Lake Rd. We were at the intersection of Wavey Lake Rd and the road to English Lake.( approx 7 miles north of highway 24)
5 of us came upon a standoff with 2 head of cattle and a grizzly.2 mothers were standing ground with 2 calves behind them.
The griz saw us, hesitated and then backed away to the edge of bush . Stopped and looked back.Funny , when griz was retreating the 2 moms did a mini charge towards it.LOL Bear took off. I guess we were the balance of power. First Griz ,I have seen in our area and I've been coming up since 78. Bear crap,( black and grizzly) is everywhere. tk

I am trying to get ahold of a family member on the south side of Sheridan. Unfortunately cell service is poor. We need them to contact us as soon as possible.

Mosquito topic. Large majority of the mosquitoes that bite you ,have hatched within 300 ft., in standing water.( not the lake).Knowing this I picked up some mosquito dunks across the line. Bellingham Target store. They don't sell them in Canada. They are non toxic to wildlife. Shaped like a small donut. Use 1 per 100 s.f. At home in Langley I used them 2 months ago in the only pond within 300'.
Working great to date. We used them also up at the lake. They were put in 2 weeks ago. Will find out if they worked this weekend. tk

We just returned from a week at the lake and there were essentially no bugs where we were. Usually there are more at this time of year. It was a pleasant relief, and a wonderful week in paradise.

The Mosquitoes are out in full force at Sheridan this can happen at anytime due to temp and location and time of maturation of eggs. Caution to all who are out in the tall grass. Ticks which carry many forms of bacteria are on the rise in B.C. For more information about these Nasty Buggers contact Canlyme.ca.
