Thanks Steve... pretty sure you meant
www.bcwildfires.ca not .com? I can hardly wait to get up North and watch Mars this August, closest it will be in 60,000 years! 12X zoom will make it the size of the moon I heard.

We saw a Grizzly for sure. I got a great picture of it and sent it to a Conservation Officer in 100 Mile. He said it was probably a young male about 4 or 5 years old looking to establish it's territory.

I have seen an influx of wildlife into this area in the last few years that have been hunted out in previous years. There have been timber wolves and lynx sighted. Last year we came upon a freshly killed moose on C trail and I don't think it was a cougar or black bear responsible as it was a large mature cow.

Stefan..Yes. 5 of us saw it.It's scat was also noticeably different from black bear.Normal range is north of Mahood lake & Canim. These large lakes provide a natural barrier except for small part between. The cabin owners on Mahood see the occasional grizzly more often, especially by their dump.Where we saw it, was approx 23 air miles south of Mahood.I have owned a cabin on Bowers lake since 78, it is not uncommon for us to do daily ,80 plus km on our quads, we have seen many many black bears, this is a first for a griz in our area.tk

Are you sure it was a grizzly? Did it have a hump on it's neck?

With the milder winters that have happened the past 3-5 years, there has been a larger food supply surviving through the winter for all these predators

Tim, That same year in March we were up over the ice and saw a whole wolf pack walk right up the middle of the lake one day. Also within the last few years there have been several Cougar sightings in the area. One mother and 2 large cubs walked right across a porch of a cabin while the owners were inside. Sure makes you a lot more cautious going for a walk or even ATVing in the woods.

Anita , An old high school budddy lives on knife creek rd just east of 150 mile house. He guides south of that area. He has a full mount griz in his living room. He says they are quite common north of mahood and canim. They seem to be now heading south between canim and mahood.Wolves too are on the increase. Saw 2 wolf kills(remnants) of moose this winter in our area. Rancher(Monicals) in your area( lac la hache) lost 74 head of cattle within this last year.tk
