I just heard of a hearing this evening at the Interlakes Hall, discussing clearcutting between the cattle guards along Sheridan Lake West Rd...

I live on the south side of Sheridan. Can you tell me where you heard this so I can delve into it a bit. Would be interested to see a map of the proposed area and a time schedule. THey have been logging behind us for years.

I have heard they are proposing to clear cut 100-200m into the forest along the west side of Sheridan Lake West rd between the two cattle guards (this is the paved road), to establish a semi-permanent fire break. I'll get further details this weekend.

yeah? A soccer field depth on either side should do it... Seems like a bit much...? I hope they at least grade a trail for off road vehicles to parallel the road.

how is the smoke at the lake today? We are heading up via highway 97 and not sure what to expect with smoke and mud slides.

Smoke? try the 2 cams here first then the Friends of Bridge Lake cam. Then try firesmoke.ca zoom into our area. It is setup to do a 2 day forecast...tk

The wife and I recently purchased a piece of property at Sheridan. We were up for four days during the long weekend and loved it. Met a few of the neighbours, everyone is so friendly. Swimming everyday. Cool over night, not complaining though. Can get used to this. Not far from the web cam so we can use it to see the weather and ice conditions.

Welcome to Sheridan Lake! We bought 9 years ago and prior to that vacationed with our kids for many years at Sheridan Park Resort! We love spending as much time at the cabin as we can.

Enjoyed our stay at Sheriden Lake. Stopped at the Inter Lake store and had to laugh at an old welder we sat with while haveing coffee he waws telling us how a guy expected him to make honey out of dog poop. The pizza at Lone Butte was supper and the staff very friendly as was the local people. Th ribs at the Iron Horse pub were superb. Keep up the good work. See you next year.

Thanks all for the encouragement... Yes, it's more difficult now to get the KIWI cam back on-line. I assume that BCInternet now owns and runs the equipment for ABC Communications and when they went through and changed out all the routers and reconfigured the IP schemes this past spring it left KIWI Cam and the Sheridan cam high and dry. KIWI's widow Mieke has been in contact with Kathleen from ABC and she is trying to get this resolved also... Thanks Mieke and Kathleen! I'll try and contact Kathleen in a couple of weeks when I'm up there and try again. Wish me luck! :)

The web cams are such a great volunteer service! Sheridan keeps me calm when the world goes crazy!
This is our first summer without Thomas Point. What a bummer!

We have to remember that this is a service Rob provides to everyone and he does not control the cameras other than his own. Thanks Rob for all the work you put in to this website all of it is great.
