I have property on the south side of the lake and for the last 50 years (parents bought in 56) we have always been able to get in by boat on the long weekend in May. Sometimes the ice had gone out the Wednesday before ... but we always made it in. Sooo ... I'm hoping this year will be no different.

Another question for those that call Sheridan Lake home... big grin

If you had a trip booked at the lake starting June 3rd, would you be worried? I'm finding myself a tad worried at this time.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Kiwi, The small bay at the very north west corner of the lake in front of our place goes early but right now the ice is not even turning black around the shore.Woke up to 2" of fresh snow and -3c this morning!

What are the first areas of the lake to usually go ice free--if and when it happens this year.

Ice thickness depends on what is seen as normal. In the late 70's what we have today would have been normal but the last 15 years or so it has been going earlier and earlier.
I updated the current weather this morning on the ISC page. Onee thing is for sure Ice out will be after the Long Weekend this year unless is suddenly goes to the upper 20's for the whole of May.

To anyone that lives in the Sheridan Lake area...
Is this ammount of ice normal at this time of year? Was there this much ice cover the last few years?
Any info would be great.

Well Bob if you like ice fishing???
Talked to my neighbor today who is an avid ice fisherman & he states there is still close to 30" of ice on the lake. He also tried to drive down #7 Road & E Trail on his ATV but gave up. So folks....patience!
