Paul, was in town today and there is open water at Skadys Bridge. The North Side of Horse Lake (where you are headed)looks like it has lost most of it's snow. Would you be good enough to give us report on what you find after you have been up here.
To the poster who asks after conditions on Sheridan The lake appears to have a light coating of snow over the Ice so travel on the ice should be okay. The trails may be patchy.

Hi! Just wondering what the snow conditions are like out on the lake -- are people still sledding on it? Cheers!

Thanks Kiwi, we were up over new years but there was not a lot of snow then.

I would bring the sled Paul. We have had a lot of snow this year and if that road is not normally plowed then I would bet it would not be driveable at this time of year.

Does anyone know the condition of the road on the north side of Horse Lake between Doman road and the ranchettes?
Coming up on the weekend of the 17th. Would like to know if I can drive in or need the sled.

Late Breaking News at 8.40am March 12th.
Snow squall just blew in from the sunshine and it is now snowing at Sheridan. If you are going to try the back road bring big shovels and be prepared to dig your way in let alone out most of the 5 miles as the road will not be bare.

I would give the back road a couple of weeks yet as the snow will be thick in the shady areas especially around Pretty Lake just past the Forestry Fence let alone the big hump (Bank) where the FS road meets the back Road.

Wow! Looks like the snow is melting really fast. How are the roads, especially the fs roads?

Rob Sunday, 11 March 2007 06:00 PM
I just got back from the lake... Roads are muddy down 4" and then frozen. The FS road still had mud/snow on it. Nobody would be snowmobilling on them now... to many bare spots. I'd have to agree with Kiwi, The thaw is on! I would guess now would be a good time to 4x4 in, before the quagmire forms?
