Looks like the ice is about to blow off! Usually it blows to the northwest..
Last year, 2015 I even had my boat in the water on the main lake april 4, so its holding up better than last year.

Lorin Tuesday, 12 April 2016 05:22 PM
I hope you're right. I'm coming up on the weekend, and I'm itching to get out in the boat.

Anyone with prediction for ice-off? I'm guessing it is likely to be early this year. I'm getting itchy to get out fishing.

Ice is over 20 inches, but 10+ is rotten white ice.

Drove in around the south side with chains.

(2327) Don't know about the early history of the club house on Jack Frost Lake but it belongs to the owner of the house & property at the south end of Thomas Road.
It was built as a hunting cabin & later used for numerous years by the Interlakes Snowmobile Club as a club house during the winter, hence the name. The club held a yearly New Years Day wiener roast at the club house. Fires were lit in the stove & fireplace inside the cabin while there was a large bonfire outside. Hot doge & snacks were available to everyone who attended. The cabin is now falling apart due to neglect but we still use it for a pit stop on our ATV/Snowmobile rides as it has two outhouses & a fire pit. Attached is a pic of the sleds at the New Years wiener roast on 1st Jan 2004.

Good times there... Ralph would 'stock' it in the summer with firewood for the event. Scant snow sometimes would make for a bumpy ride at the end of the line of sleds on the 'E' trail...

Bill Sunday, 20 March 2016 09:25 PM
I remember eating hot dogs outside in the snow at -20c beside the bonfire.

(2326) Quite a storm yesterday I presume... just need power to the tower again, to see if I lost more trees. Let's hope not.

Steve M Friday, 11 March 2016 07:30 PM
It's funny... We never seem to have power outages on the South Side. confused

Bill Saturday, 12 March 2016 08:06 PM
HMMM...Probable cause of no power outages is that the power lines stop at Sheridan Park Resort. One day you might join the rest of us. A piece of history from the old residents who are now mostly dead & gone: In the 1960's/70's a group of draft dodgers from the USA squatted on the old club house at Jack Frost Lake. They apparently tapped into the power line on Watch Lake Road & ran power up to the lake. Quite a feat considering the distance.

Hi Bill, I built our cabin a few years ago, about 500 meters from the old club house on Jack Frost Lake. Power sure would have helped, but I didn't see any wink

Bill Tuesday, 15 March 2016 09:43 PM
Tapped power line was removed by BC Hydro after the squatters were evicted by the RCMP. I know your location & you could extend the power lines from Thomas Road but it would be expensive.

Steve M Tuesday, 15 March 2016 10:10 PM
How much to extend it to the South Shore?! roll eyes (sarcastic)

Spencer Broadbent Send E-mail Thursday, 17 March 2016 07:32 PM
Yeah, we thought about power, then realized it would take up the whole cabin budget

Steve, we might have a new set of anti Trump squatters, maybe they can run power to the south side big grin

Interesting story about the club house. I want to know more about it, how old is it? Who originally owned the property? I just found it last year.
