I finally found a decent website that shows where the fires actually, and where they are progressing.

http://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/interactive-map?zoom=11&lon=-1786844.8903564&lat=592504.33320431&month=07&day=16&year=2017#wb-cont

Toggle the 'Fire Perimeter Estimate' and 'Fire M3 Hotspots' to see where the fire has been, and where it is currently burning (yellow stars are active fires)

The Ashcroft fire has traveled an incredible distance thanks to the winds, and is currently tracking towards Sheridan Lake. However, it's still a long way away, hence I'm only 'mildly' concerned.

Wow! If you go back and compare Friday and Saturday you can see how much the Ashcroft fire grew in that short time. It moved almost as far in one day as it had the previous week. Let's hope that we don't have more weather like that.

Our time at Loon Lake with some friends growing up inspired our family to buy on the South Side a couple years ago to give our kids a similar experience. Sadly it doesn't look good for that little cabin on Loon Lake. Learned how to water ski and many other great memories there.

It looks like Loon Lake was completely engulfed.

Hopefully some calmer days and cooler temps will give the crews a chance.

I too spent time at Loon Lake as a kid and I have family members who still have property up there. I wish the best in all outcomes for you. Keep us posted.

My thoughts with all of the people up there. Can anybody let me know about Sulphurous? My parents have had a place there since the early 70's.

These lakes are being closed to boats so the helicopters and planes can safely load up on water....

Just received an e-mail from the manager of Bonanza Resort that no boats will be allowed on Horse Lake & several other lakes in the area. Sheridan Lake is not affected.
They are trying to obtain information as to why this order has come out, possibly to do with the water bombers fighting nearby fires. Just a heads up folks!

BILL Saturday, 15 July 2017 12:47 PM
Update from BC Wildfire Service. Public access to Williams Lake, Watson Lake,Lac La Hache & Horse Lake is restricted immediately to assist the airtankers & helicopters fighting the fires.
